Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud met Macron to consider areas where Saudi Arabia and France could deepen their partnership, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Their discussions covered the two countries’ historical and strategic relationship as well as possibilities for broader cooperation in several sectors. They also addressed international and regional developments and coordination on security and stability.
In a separate meeting, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held talks with Safadi on Saudi-Jordanian relations and current regional issues, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry said.
Safadi expressed Jordan’s support for Saudi Arabia in the face of Houthi attacks. He condemned strikes against civilians and economic infrastructure, saying such attacks blatantly breach international law.
The ministers considered ways to reduce regional tensions and limit the consequences of further escalation. They also discussed the need to safeguard regional stability, prevent outside interference and maintain open shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Prince Faisal and Safadi also signed changes to the agreement governing the Saudi-Jordanian Higher Coordination Council, the Jordan News Agency reported.
The council was established under a 2016 agreement as a formal mechanism for cooperation between the two governments. The new protocol revises how the council is organized and is intended to broaden its role in coordinating work between Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
