John Goodman is turning heads again — and some longtime fans can hardly believe what they’re seeing.

The 74-year-old Roseanne legend showed off his dramatically slimmer appearance in a new candid photo posted Thursday by Wizards of Waverly Place star David DeLuise.

The two actors were all smiles as they posed together inside what appeared to be the breakfast-food aisle of a grocery store.

“He was my childhood !! ❤️ Legend ! I love that I get to say that to someone 😉 if you know you know,” DeLuise wrote alongside the surprise supermarket selfie.

But it was Goodman’s appearance that quickly had fans flooding the comments.

The veteran actor looked noticeably trim after shedding a staggering 200 pounds over the course of his yearslong health transformation.

Fans immediately celebrated seeing the beloved TV dad looking happy and healthy.

One commenter called Goodman “one of my favorite 80s/90s tv dads,” while remembering his legendary run as Dan Conner on Roseanne and later The Conners.

“I loved him on Roseanne/The Connors. I also loved him as Fred Flintstone on the Flintstones movie,” the fan wrote.

Another remembered Goodman from the 1987 Coen brothers classic Raising Arizona.

Others pointed to his unforgettable work in Monsters, Inc. and The Big Lebowski.

One fan simply branded him a “legend,” writing that it was surreal growing up knowing Goodman from Monsters, Inc. before later discovering his wild performance in The Big Lebowski.

Another commenter admitted that seeing Goodman older brought on some uncomfortable nostalgia.

“I absolutely hate getting older because that means my favorite actors are ALSO getting older,” the fan wrote.

Goodman became a household name playing blue-collar family man Dan Conner on Roseanne, which originally ran from 1988 to 1997 before being revived in 2018.

He later continued the role on the spinoff The Conners, which wrapped after seven seasons in 2025.

But Goodman’s transformation away from the cameras has become almost as talked about as his acting career.

At his heaviest, the actor has said he weighed around 400 pounds.

His major lifestyle overhaul began in 2007, when Goodman quit drinking, hired a personal trainer, dramatically cut back on sugar and adopted a Mediterranean-style diet.

The results eventually added up to a roughly 200-pound weight loss.

“It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your ass and figure out what you’re going to eat next,” Goodman told People in 2010. “I wanted to live life better.”

For Goodman, the biggest challenge was breaking the cycle of losing weight only to put it back on again.

During a 2016 interview with ABC, he admitted that his old routine involved dropping 60 or 70 pounds over several months and then celebrating by slipping straight back into his old habits.

“This time I wanted to do it slowly, move, exercise,” Goodman explained. “I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.”

The actor has also been candid about having setbacks.

Goodman admitted to Rolling Stone in 2023 that he became “lazy” and “let everything go” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even so, he ultimately managed to hold onto his remarkable weight loss.

And retirement clearly isn’t on the agenda.

After saying goodbye to The Conners in 2025, Goodman has remained busy in Hollywood.

He is set to appear later this year in director Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s upcoming film Digger, starring Tom Cruise.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters Oct. 2.

More than three decades after becoming one of America’s most recognizable TV dads, Goodman is still surprising fans — only now, many are doing a double take before realizing it’s him.
