NFL legend Rob Gronkowski is facing fresh scrutiny after newly surfaced text messages raised questions about his explanation for a controversial Election Day appearance.
The former New England Patriots superstar, affectionately known as “Gronk,” recently insisted that reports linking him to an advocacy organization were misleading. But a series of promotional messages has complicated his account, suggesting his appearance was being advertised far more extensively than he initially acknowledged.
According to screenshots shared by political reporter Colin Booth, Turning Point USA circulated promotional graphics featuring Gronkowski ahead of his November 3 appearance in New Hampshire.
One advertisement boldly declared, “Come Meet Gronk on Election Day.”
Even more surprising, text messages sent to supporters appeared to speak directly on the retired football star’s behalf.
“What’s up, New Hampshire, it’s Gronk!” one message began, encouraging recipients to prepare for Election Day.
Additional messages included photos and videos of Gronkowski greeting fans, posing for pictures and interacting with crowds.
The promotional campaign has fueled questions about whether his visit was simply a spontaneous encounter with supporters or something more carefully coordinated.
The controversy began after Gronkowski, 37, appeared outside polling locations alongside his longtime girlfriend, Camille Kostek. Images of the former NFL star near a Turning Point booth quickly circulated online, prompting speculation about his involvement with the organization.
Gronkowski wasted little time pushing back.
In a public statement, he insisted that neither he nor Kostek was affiliated with Turning Point USA and expressed frustration over what he described as a misleading narrative.
He explained that the couple had stopped to greet excited fans, sign autographs and take photographs before continuing their day.
A spokesperson for Turning Point also maintained that Gronkowski was not officially involved with the organization.
But the newly surfaced promotional materials have reignited the controversy, particularly because some messages were written as though Gronkowski himself was addressing recipients.
The screenshots do not establish whether the football star approved the advertisements, authorized the messages or knew how extensively his image was being used.
Still, the revelations have left an uncomfortable question hanging over his explanation: Why was his appearance being promoted so prominently if his involvement was merely a casual encounter?
Gronkowski has maintained that he was simply encouraging people to participate in the election, regardless of their personal beliefs.
For now, the former Super Bowl champion has not publicly explained whether he was aware of the promotional campaign before the messages were distributed.
And until that question is answered, the controversy surrounding one of football’s most recognizable personalities may be far from over.
