Ten people were killed, and 24 others were injured Saturday when a passenger bus collided with a heavy truck at the intersection of the Middle Ring Road and Al-Dabaa Highway in Giza Governorate.

Among those injured, 10 were in critical condition. Ambulances responded to the crash and transported the wounded to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said hospitals near the crash site and surrounding areas were instructed to increase their level of preparedness to receive the injured.

Teams were also sent to the scene to evaluate the situation, track the aftermath of the collision, and provide necessary assistance and relief.

Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi separately ordered urgent financial assistance to be distributed to eligible victims and their families following the crash.

Saturday’s collision was the latest deadly road accident reported in Egypt in recent months.

Earlier this month, 13 people were killed and another 34 injured when a large truck struck a tourist bus west of Cairo.

A separate bus crash in the Sinai Peninsula last month left 22 people dead, including 10 Jordanian tourists.

In August, at least 18 people were killed in northern Egypt when two pick-up trucks carrying agricultural day laborers collided. Many of those who died in that crash were children.
