Shocking new claims are pulling back the curtain on royal tensions — and it sounds like even the late Queen Elizabeth II had serious doubts before Prince Harry rushed down the aisle with Meghan Markle.
According to a bombshell new biography, the beloved monarch privately urged her grandson to slow things down — warning that his whirlwind romance with the American actress was moving way too fast.
The couple had only been dating for about 16 months — much of it long-distance — when they announced their engagement in November 2017. But behind palace doors, alarm bells were reportedly ringing.
Royal historian Hugo Vickers claims the queen personally suggested Harry wait at least a year before tying the knot.
He didn’t listen.
Instead, the royal wedding went ahead just six months later — a decision that insiders now say raised eyebrows across the family.
And the queen wasn’t the only one concerned.
King Charles III — then Prince Charles — allegedly echoed warnings he once received himself, advising Harry to enjoy the relationship but not rush into marriage. The caution reportedly mirrored advice Charles got from his own mentor, Lord Mountbatten, before his ill-fated marriage to Princess Diana.
Even Prince William stepped in.
Multiple royal accounts claim the future king urged his younger brother to pump the brakes, worried the relationship was moving at lightning speed. One book even alleged William believed Harry was “blinded” by his feelings and needed more time to truly get to know Meghan.
The advice didn’t go over well.
Reports suggest Harry reacted angrily, deepening an already growing rift between the brothers — one that would later explode into a full-blown royal feud.
And the drama didn’t stop there.
The queen herself was reportedly unimpressed with Meghan’s now-iconic wedding dress. According to Vickers, she found the bright white Givenchy gown inappropriate for a second marriage and took issue with its off-the-shoulder design, calling it awkward and unsuitable.
Behind the scenes, tensions were said to be running high in the lead-up to the wedding. At one point, Meghan allegedly requested access to a priceless royal tiara for a hair trial — a demand that reportedly frustrated palace staff so much that the queen instructed aides to ignore Harry’s calls about it.
By the time the big day arrived, insiders claim the monarch was exhausted by the drama.
Her reported attitude? Essentially: just get it over with.
“You get on with it. It’s nothing to do with me,” one source recalled.
Now, years later — with Harry and Meghan long removed from royal life — these revelations are reigniting questions about whether the royal family saw trouble coming from the very beginning.
