The National Commission for Palestinian Popular Action on Tuesday issued a press statement condemning the Israeli occupation’s plan to annex the West Bank including Jerusalem. The statement said the Commission “rejects the aggressive, expansionist, and dangerous resolutions approved by the Israeli Security Cabinet and announced by Ministers Smotrich and Katz.”

The Commission is comprised of a number of Palestinian organisations namely: The Palestinian National Congress, The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, The Palestinian Federation of Latin America, and the Palestinian Popular Conference – 14 Million. The body’s membership includes several prominent independent Palestinian figures notably: Hassan Khreisheh, Oraib Al-Rantawi, Mustafa Barghouti, and Wadah Khanfar.

The statement read: “these measures are not merely isolated administrative steps, but rather an integrated strategic plan aimed at imposing a new demographic and geographic reality. This project of de facto annexation in the West Bank and Jerusalem complements the crime of genocide in Gaza, forming part of a comprehensive policy to eliminate Palestinian presence.”

The Commission said it held the international community fully responsible for the consequences of this encroachment and asserts that the unity and will of the Palestinian people is the rock upon which all conspiracies of annexation and displacement will shatter.
