Iranian First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref said that “there is no need to wait for sanctions to be lifted if Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz,” emphasizing that the country’s negotiating team is “courageously defending national interests.”
The Iranian First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, added in statements carried by Sputnik News Agency that “the positions of the opposing side in the negotiations are inconsistent,” noting that they shift between de-escalation under pressure and hardline positions.
He affirmed that “Iran will maintain its achievements,” stressing that the management and control of the Strait of Hormuz should be in Tehran’s hands.
“If Iran assumes control of the Strait, there will be no need to wait for the lifting of sanctions,” said Reza Aref, considering that the sanctions would become “practically ineffective.”

Trump wrote on Truth Social: “We are making a very fair and reasonable offer, and I hope they accept it. If they don’t, the United States will destroy every power plant and every bridge in Iran. The era of kindness is over.”
He added: “Iran is losing about $500 million a day due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. It’s strange that Iran would announce the closure of the Strait of Hormuz when our blockade has already closed it.”
