A simple fast food run just turned into a life-changing payday for a handful of lucky diners — and the wild part? There are still more prizes hiding out there.
Four McDonald’s customers have already struck gold — literally — after discovering ultra-rare “Gold Ronald” trading cards tucked inside their meals. Each lucky winner is walking away with a whopping £10,000 (about $12,000), the biggest prize tied to the chain’s new limited-time promotion.
And here’s the kicker: six more winning cards are still out there, waiting to be found.
The promotion, which quietly launched across the U.K. last month, has turned ordinary orders into a full-blown treasure hunt. Two of the winning cards were found in Manchester, while others popped up in Norfolk and Milton Keynes — proving lightning can strike anywhere.
The odds? Extremely slim.
Only 10 of these gold cards exist in total, making them the ultimate “chase” item in a new collection of 25 McDonald’s-themed trading cards now being handed out with select meals.
Customers who order fan favorites like Big Macs, McNuggets, or even the McPlant meal get a pack of four cards with their purchase. Most are part of fun, illustrated sets — including categories like Characters, Retro, Fans, and Legendary (some with holographic shine).
But it’s the elusive “Ronald Card” that has people scrambling.
Beyond the big-money prize, the rest of the cards still come with perks. Some unlock free food — like fries or breakfast sandwiches — while collectors who complete full sets and log them in the McDonald’s app can score even more rewards.
Still, it’s the gold card frenzy that’s driving the hype.
Some of the regular cards are already popping up online for resale, with listings hitting £40 or more — but that’s nothing compared to the five-figure prize attached to the golden ticket.
The promotion runs through April 27, or until supplies run out — meaning time is ticking for anyone hoping to turn their next meal into a surprise payday.
So if your fries come with a side of trading cards, you might want to take a closer look.
Because your next bite could be worth thousands.
