Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been badly damaged just one week after the country music legend’s death, leaving crews scrambling to repair the iconic tribute.
The country superstar’s name was reportedly scratched off the star, while flowers left by grieving fans were stolen from the site.
Footage captured by KNX showed workers removing and replacing the damaged star as repairs got underway.
Parton received the Hollywood Walk of Fame honor back in 1984, making the star a longtime destination for fans of the beloved singer.
Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, told TMZ that Parton’s star already had cracks and had been scheduled for repairs on Tuesday.
But the situation reportedly took a disturbing turn Monday night when a fan alerted officials that flowers had been stolen and the star had been scratched.
The damage comes at an especially emotional time for Parton’s fans.
The “Jolene” singer died last Tuesday at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer.
Parton was reportedly surrounded by loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville when she died.
