Five people were wounded, two of them critically, in a shooting attack Friday morning at Yehuda Junction on Route 35 near Hebron, where two terrorists opened fire after arriving by vehicle before being killed by security forces.

Magen David Adom said two of the wounded were in critical condition. Another person was evacuated in moderate condition and another in mild condition. Two people received treatment at the scene, including one who was apparently in very serious condition and another who was mildly wounded.

An initial investigation found that the terrorists exited their vehicle and opened fire. Large numbers of security forces were dispatched to the area, and the two attackers were killed following a manhunt. Police opened an investigation and determined that the attack was nationalistically motivated.

A medic from the Hebron area released footage recorded during efforts to evacuate the wounded before the terrorists were neutralized. Gunfire can be heard in the recording.

“The terrorist keeps shooting. The exchange of fire between the terrorist and our forces continues, we are unable to evacuate the wounded, there has been active shooting for more than 20 minutes!” the medic said.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a situational assessment with the commander of Central Command, the head of the Operations Directorate, and additional commanders following the attack.

“A large amount of ammunition was found in the vehicle in which the terrorists arrived, the swift action of the fighters prevented a more severe attack,” Zamir said during the assessment.

Zamir approved a siege of the city of Hebron and additional villages in the area. He also ordered intensified efforts to make additional arrests and strengthen intelligence operations in the area.
