4-Ingredient BBQ Chicken Pizza brings sweet, smoky barbecue sauce, juicy chicken, melted mozzarella, and a golden pizza crust together with almost no fuss. Store-bought dough keeps dinner simple, while cooked chicken makes the topping especially fast. With only four ingredients, every one has a job to do—and together they make a seriously satisfying pizza.

A little BBQ sauce gets tossed with the chicken before it goes onto the pizza. That small step keeps every bite flavorful while the remaining sauce creates the tangy, smoky base. Then mozzarella melts over everything as the crust turns golden around the edges.

This easy BBQ chicken pizza is made for busy weeknights, casual weekends, or game-day dinners when homemade sounds good without a long ingredient list. Rotisserie chicken makes it even easier, and the whole pizza is ready with very little prep.

Recipe Yield: 4 servings

INGREDIENTS

1 lb store-bought pizza dough, at room temperature
½ cup BBQ sauce (sweet and smoky preferred), divided
1 ½ cups shredded cooked chicken (rotisserie or grilled)
1 ½ cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat oven to 450°F. Stretch or roll the dough into a 12-inch circle, about ¼-inch thick. Place on a pizza pan or parchment-lined baking sheet.

2. Add the toppings:
Toss the chicken with 2 tbsp BBQ sauce. Spread the remaining sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border. Scatter the chicken over the sauce, then sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the top.

3. Bake and serve:
Bake for 13–16 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the crust is golden around the edges and underneath. Rest for 3 minutes before slicing and serving.

HELPFUL TIPS TO PERFECT THIS RECIPE

  • Let the dough warm up: Refrigerated pizza dough is much easier to stretch after about 30 minutes at room temperature. If it keeps springing back, let it rest another 5–10 minutes before continuing.
  • Use low-moisture mozzarella: It melts beautifully without releasing the extra water that fresh mozzarella can add, helping the center of the BBQ chicken pizza bake properly.
  • Keep the dough around ¼-inch thick: An evenly stretched 12-inch crust gives the toppings enough support while allowing the center to bake through before the cheese becomes too browned.
