According to Il Messaggero, the Vatican is proceeding discreetly with plans to establish a bistro on the upper terrace of Saint Peter’s Basilica.
The Rome-based newspaper reports that the venue will be accommodated within an existing structure on the terrace, adjacent to the statues of the Apostles, which had previously been used to store materials for basilica staff.
The report notes that the Vatican had initially intended to have the bistro operational in time for last year’s Jubilee, but this objective was not achieved due to technical constraints.
It adds that materials required to convert the space into a bistro have already been delivered, work is now underway, and there is speculation that the venue could become operational before the end of the year.
