A High Court in Taiwan on Tuesday sentenced a male to 8 years in jail for stabbing his “bully” flatmate to death.
The 26-year-old accused surnamed Yang was implicated of completely stabbing his 52-year-old flatmate surnamed Wang in their leased home in Sanchong District, New Taipei City.
Yang, who had actually presumably been sustaining the bullying and physical attacks from his flatmate, stabbed the older guy on 10 October 2023 following a scuffle in between them.
The run-in broke out when the accused, who operated at a karaoke bar, stopped working to thank his flatmate for unlocking for him.
Wang supposedly asked Yang why he did not state “thank you”, to which the accused reacted: “I’m sorry, thank you!” However Wang, dissatisfied with the action, chased Yang and punched him, reported Taiwan news channel TVBS.
Yang suffered a contusion on his left cheek and struck back by stabbing Wang 3 times in the chest and as soon as in the abdominal area with a 20-cm-long military knife.
Wang was discovered in a swimming pool of blood and consequently hurried to a healthcare facility where he caught his injuries, China Times reported.
Upon understanding his actions, Yang waited the body, waiting for the arrival of the cops. In custody, Yang declared he was attacked by the other individual since he didn’t state thank you, which led him to strike back.
He supposedly informed cops that he deeply regretted his behaviour.
The New Taipei District Court’s National Judges Department had actually at first sentenced Yang to 8 years in jail for murder, which the prosecution appealed arguing that Yang had actually stopped working to reach a settlement with the victim’s household which the sentence was too light.
Nevertheless, the Taiwan High Court on Tuesday held that the appeal was groundless, supporting the preliminary sentencing.
