French MEP Rima Hassan has been cleared of wrongdoing following allegations that she was carrying illegal drugs, according to her party France Unbowed and the Paris prosecutor’s office.

Laboratory tests found no trace of synthetic substances, contradicting earlier media reports. Authorities confirmed that only a small amount of THC was detected in a product presented as CBD, exceeding the legal threshold but not enough to constitute a criminal offence.

Hassan had denied the claims, insisting the products were legally purchased. She is, however, still due to stand trial in July over a separate case linked to a social media post.

Her lawyer has since filed a complaint over a possible breach of confidentiality, while her party has called for corrections to what it described as false reporting.
