Move over police dogs — these crime-fighting llamas just stole the spotlight.

A group of eight llamas in Derbyshire, England, is being hailed as unlikely heroes after helping corner a suspected thief who wandered onto their owner’s property — and they didn’t even have to spit.

Graham Oliver was going about his day when he heard his llamas making an unusual commotion. The noise was enough to send him out to the field to investigate. What he found looked like something straight out of a comedy sketch: all eight llamas had surrounded a strange man, who appeared completely terrified.

“I wanted to know what he was doing in my field,” Oliver told The Washington Post. According to Oliver, the man claimed he had slipped through a hole in the fence.

But when Oliver asked him to point out exactly where this so-called hole was, things took a turn. The man showed him — then suddenly jumped over the fence and bolted.

That’s when the real drama kicked in.

Oliver soon spotted police in the area and flagged them down, explaining that someone had just trespassed on his farm. Officers later told him the man was allegedly wanted for stealing packets of tobacco from a nearby woman. Armed with Oliver’s directions about where the suspect had fled, police were able to track him down and detain him.

As for the llamas? They’re getting full credit at home.

Oliver’s wife, Heidi Price, believes the herd deserves official recognition for their “organized” efforts.

“They acted responsibly, efficiently, in an organized manner,” she said. “Quite frankly, I think they did pretty good police work.”

While llamas may look fluffy and harmless, Price admitted they can be intimidating when they want to be — even though they’re not aggressive animals.

“Their only defense mechanism is spitting,” she noted.

No word yet on whether the four-legged crime stoppers will receive medals, but one thing’s clear: these llamas aren’t just farm animals — they’re the unexpected guardians of the pasture.
