Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has once again found himself at the center of controversy after his X (formerly Twitter) account was deactivated. The move came following a days-long tirade on the platform that included anti-Semitic remarks and other inflammatory statements.
It remains unclear whether Ye himself chose to deactivate his account or if X enforced the removal due to policy violations.
In what appeared to be his final post, the rapper hinted at a voluntary departure, writing: “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board.”
His message referenced Elon Musk, the owner of X, who has previously defended free speech on the platform.
At 47, Ye is making headlines as much for his online outbursts as for his music. This isn’t the first time he has faced repercussions for his social media activity. He was previously banned from X for nearly eight months after violating the platform’s policies on incitement to violence.
This time around, his posts included statements in support of embattled music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing sex trafficking charges. Ye also repeatedly referred to himself as a “Nazi”, reigniting widespread criticism over his past inflammatory remarks.
Additionally, he made reference to his latest publicity stunt at the Grammys, where his wife, Bianca Censori, shocked audiences by appearing virtually nude on the red carpet.
For years, Ye has spoken openly about his struggles with bipolar disorder. However, in a recent appearance on The Download podcast, he claimed to have been diagnosed with autism, adding another layer of complexity to his already tumultuous public image.
