Hamas has called on countries acting as guarantors of the Gaza ceasefire to compel Israel to stop what it described as repeated violations of the agreement.

Hazem Qassem, spokesman for Hamas, said Israel had stepped up its breaches of the ceasefire by intensifying strikes on civilian homes under what he called false pretexts.

“The occupation is escalating its violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement by bombing civilian houses under false claims, disregarding the efforts of all mediators and guarantor states seeking to maintain calm in the Strip. This requires a firm position from these parties to oblige the occupation to stop its violations,” Qassem said.

The Gaza Strip has recently seen a new wave of Israeli military escalation, including demolitions and direct attacks on Palestinians, resulting in deaths, amid continued claims that the Israeli army is breaching the ceasefire agreement.

Earlier, the Government Media Office in Gaza said Israel had committed 1,620 violations of the ceasefire agreement since last October, leading to 573 deaths and 1,553 injuries.
