Davido Launches Electric Bike Line in Africa

Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has unveiled an exciting new venture: his own line of electric bikes in partnership with Africa’s leading electric vehicle company, Spiro. The initiative, announced via Davido’s Instagram on Tuesday, aims to empower motorcycle riders and provide a Made-in-Africa solution for the continent’s transportation challenges.

Davido shared the inspiration behind the project, highlighting its connection to his personal journey and his commitment to creating generational wealth and meaningful impact.

“Manifestation is spiritual,” he wrote. “Years ago, I claimed 30 BG, but it wasn’t just about success – it was about purpose. Today, I’m transforming that vision into something bigger: generational wealth and ownership.”

He emphasized that the bike market is more than a means of transportation—it’s the backbone of Africa’s economy. With over 27 million motorcycles across the continent, 80% of riders depend on these vehicles for their livelihoods.

For Davido, this project is deeply personal. He credited motorcycle riders, known as Okada riders in Nigeria, as pivotal supporters of his music career, helping to spread his music and name to every corner of Nigeria and beyond.

“These same Okada drivers, who have supported me throughout my career, are now at the center of this vision,” he said. “They moved my music, my name, and my story across Africa. Now it’s time to give back.”

Davido highlighted the importance of creating solutions that cater to Africa’s unique needs, emphasizing that this venture is about more than just business—it’s about ownership, empowerment, and legacy.

“This isn’t just about building a product,” he wrote. “It’s about creating a Made-in-Africa solution for Africa. Streams might belong to foreign labels, but this is how you flip the script. This is how you turn influence into equity, and visibility into ownership.”

To support riders across Africa, the partnership will also include financing solutions, making it easier for hardworking individuals to own and operate these electric bikes.

Davido also hinted at the sleek design of the bikes, developed in collaboration with the Spiro team. “Let’s not forget – these bikes are fly!” he said, expressing excitement about the upcoming reveal of the final product.

He added, “This is more than a deal; it’s a statement. It’s ownership, empowerment, and legacy in motion. Africa isn’t just catching up—we’re redefining what it means to lead.”

The venture will operate in several countries, including Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ghana. Davido encouraged interested riders to sign up via the Spiro website, signaling the project’s readiness to hit the ground running.
