Anna Duggar is once again at the center of controversy — but this time, it’s not directly tied to her disgraced husband. Instead, critics are zeroing in on her latest venture: a dog breeding business that’s igniting fierce backlash online.

The mother of seven, whose husband Josh Duggar is currently serving a 12.5-year federal prison sentence, has quietly built a business breeding English Cream Golden Retrievers in Arkansas. But what she presents as a wholesome, family-run operation is being slammed by critics as something far more troubling.

Anna officially launched her company, Golden Grove Pups LLC, in May 2024. State records show the business is active and in good standing in Arkansas.

On her website, Anna paints a picturesque scene — a family ranch nestled near the Ozark Mountains, where puppies are raised alongside children and farm animals in a loving, “enriching” environment.

“Our English Cream Golden Retrievers are more than just puppies — they’re family,” the site reads, emphasizing careful breeding practices and strong bloodlines sourced from Europe.

Social media posts from the business show playful puppies, cozy farm life, and frequent appearances from Duggar’s children helping care for the dogs. At first glance, everything appears polished and wholesome.

But not everyone is buying it.

Almost immediately after news of the business spread, critics flooded social media with sharp accusations — branding Anna a “backyard breeder,” a term often used for unregulated, profit-driven breeding operations.

Skeptics questioned whether Duggar has the expertise, funding, or ethical oversight required for responsible breeding — particularly when it comes to genetic testing, veterinary care, and proper animal welfare standards.

“Oh hell no, the last thing we need is more backyard breeders,” one critic wrote.

Another added: “Breeding isn’t just throwing dogs together. It requires knowledge, testing, and serious money — none of which she has shown.”

Others were even more blunt, suggesting the business is simply a way to generate income following Josh Duggar’s incarceration.

“This is probably her attempt to make money with minimal skills,” one user wrote, pointing to her lack of a traditional work history.

The backlash taps into a larger, ongoing debate over pet breeding in America. Animal advocates have long pushed the “adopt, don’t shop” movement, arguing that breeding contributes to overcrowded shelters and unnecessary euthanasia.

“Backyard breeders” are often accused of prioritizing profit over animal health — cutting corners on medical care, skipping genetic screenings, and producing puppies in substandard conditions.

However, there is currently no clear evidence that Anna’s operation is violating any laws or showing signs of neglect. In fact, her social media presence shows puppies appearing healthy, active, and well cared for — playing, eating treats, and visiting the vet.

Still, critics remain unconvinced.

Life After Josh Duggar

Anna’s new venture comes roughly three years after her husband’s shocking fall from grace.

Josh Duggar was convicted in December 2021 on charges related to child sexual abuse material and sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison. He is currently serving his time at FCI Seagoville in Texas.

Since then, Anna has largely stepped away from her personal social media accounts, choosing instead to share updates through her business page — often featuring her children interacting with the puppies.

Whether Golden Grove Pups becomes a successful family business or continues to face mounting criticism remains to be seen.

For now, Anna Duggar’s attempt to rebuild her life — and income — has placed her right back in the public spotlight, where every move is being watched, dissected, and debated.

And in today’s online world, even something as seemingly innocent as raising puppies can quickly turn into a full-blown controversy.
