Actress Alexandra Paul, best known for her role on Baywatch and her appearance in John Carpenter’s 1983 horror film Christine, was arrested in Wisconsin over the weekend following a protest at a controversial dog breeding facility.

According to criminal records, the 61-year-old actress was arrested Sunday morning and later booked into the Dane County Jail on a misdemeanor trespassing charge.

Authorities say the arrest happened during a protest at Ridglan Farms, a facility located in Blue Mounds, about 30 miles west of Madison. The farm has long been the target of animal rights activists because it breeds beagles used in scientific research.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said the situation escalated when a group of activists allegedly entered the property and began removing dogs from the facility.

Law enforcement responded to the scene and ultimately arrested around 20 people connected to the protest.

Officials said investigators also seized two vehicles along with burglary tools and other evidence believed to be connected to the incident.

Some of the beagles that were taken during the protest were later recovered and returned to the breeding facility. However, authorities say several of the dogs are still missing.

The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement works to determine exactly what happened during the protest and who may have been involved.

Paul rose to fame playing Lt. Stephanie Holden on Baywatch from 1992 to 1997, becoming one of the show’s most recognizable stars during its peak popularity. She also appeared in the cult horror film Christine, directed by John Carpenter.

So far, Paul’s representatives have not publicly commented on the arrest.
