A report by the Washington-based investigative outlet DropSite News has claimed that a security system installed at a Manhattan apartment linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein was overseen by Israeli authorities.

According to the report, which cites emails recently released by the United States Department of Justice, the security equipment was installed in early 2016 in a property at 301 East 66th Street in Manhattan. The building was reportedly used by several individuals connected to Epstein.

The report states that former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak frequently stayed at the property. It further explains that emails show Epstein personally approved the installation of the security system and authorised meetings between his staff and Israeli security officials.

DropSite News also reported that apartments in the building were regularly rented to people associated with Epstein and were used to accommodate underage models.

Epstein, who was accused of running a large-scale sex trafficking operation involving minors, was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial. His death was officially ruled a suicide.

At the end of January, the Justice Department released millions of pages of documents, videos and photographs related to the case under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, legislation signed into law by President Donald Trump in November 2015.
