Melania Trump is catching serious heat online after making what many are calling downright bizarre comments about her 19-year-old son, Barron. During a Fox News appearance, the First Lady insisted she still has to be with him “nonstop” — even though he’s a sophomore at NYU.
The internet didn’t take that well.
On Mornings with Maria, host Maria Bartiromo praised Melania for juggling her White House duties with motherhood. Melania, however, framed her role as less multitasking and more full-time supervision. “You need to be there for a child nonstop,” she said, adding that Barron still “needs” her despite being a college student. She also shared that he talks politics with his father and even gives advice.
Fans were quick to call foul. Social media users mocked what they called Marine One-level helicopter parenting, with many pointing out that most 19-year-olds are driving, voting, living on their own, and doing just fine without mom glued to their side. Others questioned why she talks about him “like he’s five,” calling the remarks “absolutely bizarre.”
Behind the scenes, sources say Melania’s protective streak goes even further. Insiders claim she recently shut down Barron’s entire online presence after a disturbing incident with a woman he met on the internet. According to reports, Barron believed he witnessed her being assaulted during a FaceTime call and alerted British authorities — a moment one source said “changed the entire tone” of his digital life.
That was enough for Melania to pull the plug. “Melania shut it down completely,” an insider said. “No debate. No negotiations. It stops now.”
Another source added, “No exceptions. No loopholes. She was crystal clear.”
