Shocking new details have emerged about the death of former “Big Brother” contestant Amber Siyavus, who was found unresponsive inside a Las Vegas home earlier this month. A newly disclosed police report reveals that officers discovered suspected drug paraphernalia, an unidentified white powder and prescription medications near the 46-year-old reality star.
Siyavus, who became a familiar face to millions of viewers during the eighth season of the CBS reality competition, died October 9. Although her death was announced days later, the circumstances surrounding her final hours are only now coming to light.
According to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department report obtained by TMZ, officers discovered Siyavus in a bedroom with what appeared to be a straw used for snorting substances and a lighter in her hands. When investigators moved her body, they reportedly uncovered aluminum foil with burned residue and a small plastic bag containing an unidentified white powder.
The discoveries didn’t end there. Police also reportedly found several prescription pills inside her luggage, along with four doses of Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.
Despite the troubling evidence, authorities have not determined whether drugs played a role in her death. Her official cause and manner of death remain pending, and investigators have not publicly identified the substances recovered from the scene.
The police report also sheds light on a heartbreaking timeline of Siyavus’ final morning.
Her aunt told investigators that she first noticed the former television personality lying sideways on a bed around 7 a.m. Believing she was sleeping, she returned to bed herself. But when she checked again approximately four hours later, Siyavus had not moved and was unresponsive.
Emergency dispatchers were told she wasn’t breathing and was cold to the touch. She was officially pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m.
Investigators learned that Siyavus had arrived in Las Vegas from Michigan on October 4 to visit her mother. According to her aunt, she had been living in Michigan while attempting to arrange for her son to move to Las Vegas.
Her aunt also revealed that Siyavus had previously undergone rehabilitation for heroin and prescription pill use. However, she told police she was unaware of any recent suicidal thoughts.
The revelations add another painful chapter to a life that had already been marked by tragedy.
In January 2018, Siyavus lost her 18-year-old daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, in Ohio. Her daughter’s death was investigated as an apparent suicide, a devastating loss for a mother who had frequently spoken about her love for her child while appearing on national television.
Siyavus first captured viewers’ attention in 2007 as a contestant on “Big Brother” Season 8. Known for her emotional confessionals and frequent tears, she earned the memorable nickname “Whamber” and developed close friendships with fellow houseguests Jameka Cameron and Dustin Erikstrup. She ultimately finished in seventh place.
Following news of her death, longtime “Big Brother” host Julie Chen Moonves shared a touching tribute, thanking Siyavus for her “heart and honesty” and promising she would be remembered with love.
Nearly two decades after her appearance on the hit reality show, Siyavus’ sudden death has left former castmates and fans mourning while questions remain about what happened during her final hours.
For now, the medical examiner’s findings will be crucial in determining whether the substances reportedly discovered near her body contributed to her death.
