Demonstrations were reported across several parts of Syria following the death of a young man with a disability who was shot by Israeli forces during a military incursion into the village of Jamla in western Daraa countryside on Thursday.

Protests took place in Idlib, Homs, Damascus, Daraa, Quneitra and along the Syrian coast, with demonstrators protesting Israeli military incursions on Syrian territory, particularly in southern Syria.

Israel says its military operations in Syria, which intensified after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, are defensive measures necessary to safeguard its national security.

The demonstrations drew significant participation and extended well beyond areas along the border. Confirmed estimates of the number of people taking part were not immediately available.

The protests followed an Israeli military operation in Jamla in western Daraa countryside. During the incursion, Israeli forces reportedly searched civilian homes and deployed snipers on residential rooftops.

A young man with a disability was shot dead by Israeli forces during the operation.

The incident prompted demonstrations in Daraa and other parts of the country, including areas far from the locations of Israeli military activity.
